Judaism focuses mainly on the ways to live one's current life. References to afterlife are vague, few, and even non-existent in various Jewish traditions. Because of the non-centrality of the afterlife for Judaism, this tradition has been able to entertain a wide variety of different afterlife notions throughout its history.

Some interpretations: The soul lives on: The soul will be closer or further from God, depending on the righteousness of one's life lived. Since the soul was created by God, it cannot die.

Soul reunited with ancestors: The Torah indicates in several places that the righteous will be reunited with their loved ones after death, while the wicked will be excluded from this reunion.

'Reincarnation: ancient hebrews (Pharisees in particular) believed in reincarnation.

Heaven/Hell: Gan Eden/Gehinnom
